Psychology Students Learn More About Mental Health

Year 12 and 13 psychology students marked World Mental Health Day by attending the Cardinal Clinic. Students watched a commissioned performance of ‘Mum, can you lend me twenty quid?’ a play that tells the true story of how drug addiction destroyed one seemingly happy family. Adapted by playwright Mike Howl based on a book of the same name by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips.
Following the play students had the opportunity to talk to the cast members and Elizabeth Burton-Phillips about the play and her charity DrugFam. In addition, students were able to ask psychologists in the field numerous questions about addiction and the range of treatments available to addicts both locally and nationally. Student's found the experience both moving and insightful.
