Best Hockey Tour Ever
Thirty bright eyed and bushy tailed hockey players jet-setted off on an early morning flight to Barcelona with great anticipation for the action-packed days that awaited them. The girls had a city tour of Barcelona, visited the PortAventura Theme Park and the beach before having their first hockey game of the tour on the third day.
The first game was the younger Claires Court hockey squad against Club Egara at a spectacular venue in Barcelona. The game was won by Claires Court girls 3-0, a superb way to start the matches. The next game was a short drive away and the second game for the older girls against the Spanish Junior Hockey Club. Again the Claires Court team were strong taking victory 2-0. The girls and staff left tremendously happy after a fantastic day of hockey.
On the fourth day the girls chose to either swim in the pool or chill in the hotel room before leaving at 11am to head to the Olympic Stadium followed by shopping. From there the girls made their way to the next series of fixtures starting off against CD Teressa Hockey Club. The girls hard work during this match paid off winning 2-0. Athletic Teressa was the second game of the evening for the younger squad and after a fast and exciting hockey match the girls beat their opponents 2-0.
The final day arrived quickly with a final stop at the Nou Camp Stadium, home of Barcelona FC and a chance to get up close to the UEFA Champions League Trophy before finishing off in the giftshop for some last minute presents.
Miss Cox said;
“A huge huge thank you to all tourists, they were a fantastic credit to the school and great ambassadors for the sport. I was immensely proud of each and every single one of them who blew me away by their kind, sensible and mature approach to the five days away making the time spent away such fun for all involved including the staff. Their hockey playing was truly superb and I know I can speak on behalf of Miss McArdle, Miss Barrett and myself by saying it was quite simply the best tour ever!”
