Mayor's Reception for Borough Rowers

Recognising the achievements of young rowers within the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead in 2016, the Mayor, Cllr  Sayonara Luxton, held an evening reception at Maidenhead Town Hall on Monday, 21 November.  Those invited included members of the Junior Male Quadruple Sculls (JM4X) teams that competed in this year’s Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta representing Claires Court (winners), Windsor Boys School (runners-up) and Maidenhead Rowing Club.

Mayors Reception for RowersAfter greetings and photographs in the Council Chamber, the Mayor invited her guests to join her for refreshments in the Mayor’s Parlour where she explained more about her role (mainly ceremonial) in the RBWM and also showed off some of her insignia such as the Windsor Chain, the Mace and her Robes.

Of the Claires Court team, Finlay Gronmark, Alex Richardson and Oliver Costley were present but the fourth team member, Jonathan Cameron, is studying at Nottingham and was unable to attend.  The Reception capped off a remarkable season for the Claires Court JM4X team which won the three main schoolboy events, namely The Schools’ Head (March), the National Schools Championships (May) and the Fawley Challenge Cup in July.
