from Nursery to Sixth Form

Winter Music Concert

An enthusiastic and diverse evening of music making saw performers from Years 7-13 take to the stage.

Miss Hester Goodsell, Director of Music said;
“The evening began with an acapella arrangement of 'The Game of Thrones' theme sung by the Vox choir. Other highlights included Elodie Boucher in Year 7 who impressed with her enthusiastic and characterful rendition of 'Lost Boy', Jordie Reay, Flora Gault and Lucy Corrigan all singing their own compositions and Katie Rathbone playing her flute, a good rehearsal for her imminent Grade 4 exam. The Year 7-9 choir has grown in success and is now at its largest in four years. Singing in three part harmony, they received huge applause for their rendition of 'You Got the Love'. The new sound system was truly tried and tested by our last act, Rock School, who rocked the hall with 'Use Somebody' by Kings of Leon.”

Sixth Former Performing at the Winter ConcertMr Paul Bevis, Head Teacher commented;
“From rock to classical, solos to ensembles, along with both of our choirs there was huge diversity on show. We were uplifted by high quality performances of well known pieces by the great composers and songwriters, but even more so by those who wrote and presented their own work. It is no mean thing to be on that stage singing or playing solo for the first time, or baring your soul through your own songwriting. My only regret is that not more parents were able to attend as the quality of the performances would have graced any stage and not found wanting. The quality of the music was superbly enhanced by our new sound system and I am indebted to the Principals for their continuing commitment to improving the quality of our infrastructure. We now have a first class sound system and this will enhance our music, drama and dance productions as well as assemblies and lessons.”
