Telling Traditional Tales in the Nursery

Having heard the tale of The Gingerbread Man’ girls and boys made and then decorated gingerbread men. They also cut out and assembled split pin gingerbread men, played a related counting game and re-enacted the story, practising and developing a multitude of skills.
Some under the ocean imaginative play was enjoyed by the boys and girls after reading 'The Little Mermaid'.
The children learned the names of creatures, oceans and seas and stories linked to the ocean. They played at being being pirates travelling the high seas in their boats. They sang songs and pretended to look for treasure. What a creative and collaborative bunch of ‘scoundrels’ they were!
