Muggle Maths

Year 7 learned about Metric Measures through the eyes of Harry Potter. As they entered the room and were sorted into a Hogwarts House, they became wizards needing to learn how muggles (non-wizarding people) measure length, weight and capacity. Firstly they looked at the metric measures regular humans measure in, and then how they read them off the scales when measuring items.
Having passed their theoretical studies, they were able to tackle practical studies. They were presented with a range of spell ingredients and potions, and set about weighing and working out their capacity. They also looked at estimating the length, weight or capacity of various items. All the wizards left understanding more about these strange metric units muggles use in their everyday life!
