Rowers Receive The PTA Award

At the PTA AGM, the achievements were recognised of the quad who won the Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta last summer. Finlay Gronmark, Oliver Costley were both able to be present together with their mothers and Mrs Jane Wood, mother of Jonathan Cameron to receive their PTA plaques and accolades. Unfortunately Alex Richardson was unable to join the presentation to see his efforts recognised.
The PTA Award is presented to those who have achieved something not previously achieved by a Claires Court pupil. In this instance, the first case of a quad winning this race. Not only that, but they had also achieved the triple crown of winning the three main schools regattas in the season during 2016, as well as a great many other individual achievements.
Those present were treated to a video showing the run up to their efforts as well at the heats and, of course, the thrilling final.
It was clear that coaches Tom Jost and Chris Clark were thrilled and proud of their athletes and Mrs Phyllis Avery MBE, President of the PTA. was delighted to be able to give the award on behalf of the PTA.
The PTA Awards board can be found in the Sixth Form area at College Avenue.
