Super Scientists
Monday 6 March saw the Year 5’s take over Claires Court Senior Boys Science labs. We were greeted with enthusiastic pupils from the outset who couldn't wait to get involved. Throughout, the senior staff were very impressed with their knowledge and understanding of key scientific areas and these were put to good use throughout the morning.
The boy's were challenged with extracting salt from rock and used a process of dissolving, heating, filtering and evaporation to obtain their salt crystals. All boys worked extremely well at this task and as you can see from the pictures thoroughly enjoyed learning how to use Bunsen burners safely. All boys managed to successfully obtain salt crystals and were treated to a demonstration of 'elephants toothpaste' for all of their hard work.
All at CCSB science department look forward to welcoming these young scientists in the future.
Here's what the boys said!
