Boys and Their Dads Enjoy Bushcraft
It was a memorable evening of Books and Bushcraft for Year 5 boys and their Dads at the annual event held on Friday.
The boys started the evening with a brief introduction, they then split into their classes and took turns with the different activities. One class enjoyed a Bushcraft demonstration on how to light fires in various ways and then everyone had a go at using a flint and steel. This really meant they drew on the School's core values of problem solving, communication and resilience!
Another class was treated to a gourmet meal of soup and hot dogs that had been cooked over the campfire. The remaining class took a trip up to the library to discover the literary delights (and the comfy cushions and snuggly rugs). There the boys shared their favourite books with their dads and showed them all the books in their library across the top floor. As expected the Bushcraft and Adventure books were very popular!
The different classes rotated through the activities until the end where they all came together for that most wonderful of camp fire ritual: the S'more making - as boys and their dads toasted their marshmallows over the campfire (many for the first time) it was decided by all that this had indeed been a fantastic evening!
