Swimarathon Awards Presented

The Lions Club of Maidenhead held their presentation of awards evening for the annual Swimarathon on Friday 17 March. From all the teams and all the participating organisations, Chris Rayer (Year 13) was the swimmer who collected money from the highest number of sponsors (in excess of 50 people) and was therefore presented with a special trophy.

The presentation was made by Jeanette Chippington the British Paralympic swimmer and canoeist who won gold for Britain in Rio last year. Between them, the Sixth Form swimmers (who were represented at the award evening by Flora Gault, Alexei Murphy and Chris Rayer) raised a total of £681.41. This was a tremendous total and half the money will be used by the Lions Club for local charities and half will be given to Foodshare one of the Sixth Form's chosen charities.

Lions link teacher Ann Burdett said, “It was wonderful that our pupils and students get an opportunity to support their local community.  Headteacher Paul Bevis added, “We are rightly proud of our work with the Lions and acknowledge their kind words about the maturity and confidence of our students.”
