U13 Hockey Team Make Their Coach Proud

The U13 hockey squad were in high spirits and excited for the County Tournament at St Mary’s School in Ascot, last week.

Their early arrival allowed time for a team breakfast; chocolate brownies, prepared by ‘Birthday Girl’ Hannah Hale. This clearly was great preparation for the eight games ahead! 21 teams were competing for the title and Claires Court were ready to challenge them all. The results are as follows;

U13 Hockey TournamentCC v Charters: 3-0 win

Fantastic goals from Ariel Specktor, Lana Wallis and Hannah Hale gave us a really positive start and boosted our confidence.

CC v Daneshill: 3-0 win

Lana Wallis dominated the midfield; scoring all 3 goals and helped us to a comfortable win.

CC v St Andrews: 2-0 loss

Emily Taylor-West made many impressive saves against this very strong side (eventual County Champions). Kate Webster and Zara Paton were solid at the back keeping their strikers at bay for most of the game. A great performance from the whole team despite the final result.

CC v Waingels: 3-0 win

Another impressive game from Claires Court, with Emily Tapner-Evans scoring 2 goals and Yasmin Paton scoring 1.

Our impressive performance in the first round tournament enabled us to qualify for the ‘Cup Competition’ and gave us a shot at becoming county champions:

U13 Girl Hockey TournamentCC v Pangbourne: 2-0 win

Emily Taylor- West made a couple of brilliant early saves which helped us to gain confidence. Lana Wallis scored 2 more impressive goals!

CC v Holyport: 3-0 win

2 goals scored by Lana Wallis and 1 by Hannah Hale qualifies us as winners of stage 2 of the tournament and gives us a place in the semi-final.

CC v Lambrook: 1-0 loss

We conceded an early goal, but fought back extremely well; showing great resilience. All players were fantastic and their effort was second to none! This led us into our final game against the Abbey for the 3rd/4th play off.

CC v Abbey: 0-0 draw

This was a greatly contested match, with both teams desperate to get 3rd place. The result meant both received medals for 3rd place.

Mandy Davis, Coach commented;

“I would like to congratulate the girls for their achievements in this tournament. They all made me very proud!”
