Pre-Prep’s First Sports Festival
Eight girls in Year 1 and 2 were selected to take part in their first ever ISA Pre Prep Festival of Sport at Ballard School.
The girls and parents had a very early start, meeting at 7.30am and upon arrival the girls were very excited and full of energy for the long day ahead. Ballard School were fantastic hosts, greeting Claires Court at the door and giving the girls their own area for the day.
Miss Katie Hudson, PE Teacher summarised the event:
“The girls were split into pairs and went off in four groups to compete against other schools. This was a mixed festival; therefore Junior Girls were up against boys as well.
The morning consisted of many different field events; bat strike, rounders ball, long jump, and target throwing. The girls did exceptionally well in all events, picking up some first and second places. The girls then had a well-earned 45 minute lunch break to recuperate and get themselves ready for the afternoon’s events.
During the afternoon, the groups participated in six track events; obstacle, egg and spoon, 75m sprint, shuttle relay, Commonwealth relay and the Olympic relay. The girls showed excellent team spirit and encouragement towards all. Considering this was the girls’ first competitive event, they did exceptionally well at the relay change overs, winning almost every relay.
A special mention must go to Mayla Patel and Caitlin Fleischer for winning the long jump event and also to all the girls for winning the relay races, truly outstanding. Claires Court managed to come in an impressive third place overall which was beyond mine and Miss Barrett's expectations. What a fantastic achievement, all girls should be extremely proud of their efforts. A huge thank you must go to our the parents who travelled with us and supported the girls all the way through to the end. Well done!”
