5 Wins for CC at the Hammersmith Regatta

On a beautiful bright sunny morning on Saturday 22 April, the Claires Court rowing army arrived at Hammersmith for a day of racing. With a full trailer and doubling up of many boats the coaches were set for a busy day of organisation and cheering for the pumped up athletes.

Mr Tom Jost, Head of Rowing summed up the occasion:

“We hit the ground running, with the first athlete through to the semi-final by 10am. We saw an easy win from our J18 Double of Jack Jesseman and Henry Osborne. A storming win in the semi final from our J16s who took on club men’s crews in the IM3 Eight.

The afternoon kicked off with a side by side Hammersmith Regattarace off between two of our J15 coxed Quads, which lead onto a win for Raamie Falck Awad, Alec Getley, Josh Morgan and Leo Griffiths, coxed by David Jobling. After the win the boys had a five minute break before they swapped boats to the Doubles and went back out to race. Here Raamie Falck Awad and Alec Getley picked up another win in the J16 double category and in their race again Guildford RC.

The J14 boys arrived to join in the fun and had some tough races out on the tideway in there Coxed Quads. Our winning streak continued with a win from the J18 boys Jack Jesseman, Henry Osborne, Toby Yate plus a Claires Court old boy, Toby Jones in the Coxless Four.

The Seniors then jumped into their singles to battle it out, where we saw a cracking race off for the win on the single sculls from our one and only Toby Yate, who smashed his competition and took the final win of the day.

A great day and five wins from the Claires Court army.”
