With aspirations to have a career in Medicine, pupil Tom May was lucky to attend a week long medical course at Lancaster University. This enabled him to have a real insights into what this would be like.
Tom had the following to say:
“I had the opportunity to attend a medical course recently to understand both PBL (Problem Based Learning) and to live life as medical student. The course surpassed all my expectations; it was an experience that has enriched my views on medicine, enabled me to explore new study methods, allowed me to form new friendships and most importantly I learned a lot about myself.
Lancaster have now said they will guarantee him an interview if he applies to take Medicine there which is tremendous news.
The Director of Admissions for the medical school said the following to Tom:
"In addition, I thought you would like to hear that your PBL tutor during the Summer School singled you out for exceptional praise and commented that they thought you were extremely well-suited to a PBL curriculum."
