Concert and Prize Giving

Junior Girls Prize Giving and final concert of the year was great fun and of course emotional for both teachers and parents of those moving on. The delightful occasion started with each class from Reception to Year 6 parading onto the stage with their teacher, waving at the audience, with a catchy video showing clips of each class playing in the background. You can take a look at it here.

Once they were all sat in their places, Head of Junior Girls, Leanne Barlow gave a heartfelt speech describing the pupils’ achievements over the past year and what fun they have all had! Each year then took to the stage to do a performance, including Reception and their perfectly rehearsed routine to ‘cups’, Year 3’s Viking battle and as a finale Year 6 sharing their favourite memories.
Guest speaker, Eleanor Wood (Author and former Claires Court pupil) then started the proceedings for the awards ceremony to those receiving recognition for their effort, attainment and progress across Reception to Year 5. Next on stage, came Year 6, who came up to accept their achievement awards and trophies, before Eleanor kindly made a speech talking about her time at the school and encouraging the girls for the future.
The event culminated with a balloon release, with the crowds making their way outside for refreshments whilst Year 6 gathered their balloons. It was a great way to end the afternoon as the girls released the balloons with a tag and their handwritten message about their hopes and dreams for the future.
