Senior Girls Art & Textiles Exhibition 2017
GCSE Art and Textiles pupils had the chance to showcase their fantastic pieces of work at their Exhibiton held this week. On Tuesday 6 June a Private Viewing was put on inviting guests to appreciate the hard work put in by the girls and enjoy tasty treats cooked up and handed out by the Food Club.
In both Art and Textiles pupils explored the theme of 'Beginning and (or) End' for their final projects. Some pupils explored the idea of beginning and end of life - and how the body changes due to age and drug abuse.
Other pupils explored the idea of beginning a new life through marriage - anniversaries - weddings. Beginning and end of journeys and beginning and end of day was also explored.
Miss Sophie Langton, Textiles Teacher said:
“I am really pleased with how hard my Textiles students worked towards their exam and I am am really proud of the standard of the work the girls have achieved. The girls developed this theme through drawings and fabric experimentation which led to a final outcome (garments/ wall hangings/ cushions) This year I have introduced them to 'Surface Textiles' which the girls have developed and explored into their work - with a heavy focus on embellishment and learning how to create Textile art through drawing.”
