Using the ‘virtual regatta inshore’ game, the BSDRA has been running its first eSailing Team Racing Championships. An impressive uptake has seen entries from 32 teams representing 17 different schools with competitors racing in two divisions, as they would in the 'real thing', U17 and U19.  The competition will last throughout May and June with schools competing in one scheduled match each week. 

So far Claires Court has been well represented with Senior Boy Sam, Year 10, winning the competition to compete for the London and South East Region in the RYA eSailing Spring Championship. Sailing through the regional heats, Sam qualified for the regional finals. As the original field was whittled down from over 500 to just the top 19 in the South East of England, Sam took to the virtual water alongside Maidenhead Sailing Club (MSC) mate Ian Stone to compete in a series of five races. 

Despite winning two of the races, Sam just missed out, coming in third overall. Caroline Payne, Outdoor Education and Activities Administrator, commented: “While it wasn't quite the result we had all hoped for, we have to say well done Sam for getting so far in the competition! MSC will also be celebrating and commiserating in equal measure with two of their members in the top three!” 

Results can be found on the BSDRA Facebook page and winners will be announced at the end of June with prizes kindly donated by KSail, and subsequently awarded by BSDRA.
