Meet A Pupil

Matthew - Year 10

Matthew has been with the School for 11 years since joining in Reception, and chose Senior Boys because of the sporting opportunities and the pupil friendly atmosphere.

Matthew plays cricket for Berkshire County and is in the ‘A’ team for cricket, rugby and football. He’s been on the school cricket tour and is going on the St Lucia cricket tour next year.

Matthew has been on the school council since Year 8 being voted by his peers and challenged to present speeches in assembly.

Interviewed January 2017

Senior Boys Meet a Pupil“The teachers are really nice, approachable and easy to get hold of, but you know you want to stay on the good side of them as discipline gets dealt with properly. We have a good relationship with our teachers and as you get older there is great mutual respect, they understand your strengths and weaknesses and push you to be the best you can.

The subjects I am taking for GCSE are PE, German, Geography and Art and in the future I want to do something medical related. I love logical subjects like maths and science and feel I do really well in them. Recently I was awarded an Art Tie for A* potential at GCSE and in Year 9 I won Sportsman of the Year.

In Year 7 and 8 I guess I didn’t try as well as I could have and would do lots of last minute revision. I realised this at the end of Year 8 and decided to set my goals higher. Thanks to the support of teachers I now know I can do it and work harder towards exams, this has resulted in me doing really well at a high level in the tests we do.”
