Chess is incredibly popular at Junior Boys with over 100 pupils involved.
The emphasis is on enjoying the game and boys have the chance to play several times a week in clubs. There have been some significant successes in recent years with county champions and our boys playing for England.
WHY PLAY CHESS?
Most competitive activity is physical, chess challenges the brain and will encourage your son to sit still and concentrate. As well as helping improve his patience, chess enhances the strategy and sequencing skills used in Maths and History.
