FAQs

My son/daughter wants to play for a team. What opportunities will they have?

We aim to allow everyone who wants to participate in a sporting team to have the opportunity to do so.  We have different levels of competition including: Inter-House, Inter-School, Regional and National competitions. If your child attends a Lunchtime or After School club, they will have the opportunity to compete against other Schools.

How can I contact my child's teacher?

In the first instance or in an emergency, contact the relevant School Office, who will get a message to the teacher either in person, or by email.

For Senior pupils, teachers' contact emails are detailed in the Curriculum Statements.

Can my child join the school part way through the year?

Many pupils join the School during the course of the academic year, subject to a place being available and a satisfactory interview and current School reference.  To help alleviate nerves we often encourage pupils to join us for a Taster Day so we can get to know each other better.

My child is worried about being the ‘new’ girl/boy? How do you accommodate this?

Our pupils are incredibly welcoming, kind and caring. As a School, we are used to girls and boys joining from all over the world and we enjoy getting to know them, their families and what experiences they have had in their life so far. Our curriculum can be personalised to the individual. Our teachers ensure that any gaps in knowledge and missing fundamental skills are identified so a plan can put in action to address them. With our small classes, the staff get to know the pupils very quickly and soon know what motivates and interests them.

Do many pupils join in Year 9?

Our largest intake for our Senior School is in Year 7, however pupils often join us at Year 9, (subject to availability of places) and the process of induction and integration into the School encourages a seamless transition into the year group, with buddies and mentors to support new pupils.

Do you have a breakfast club?

Our extended care service offers a Before School Care programme for Girls and Junior Boys from 7.30am – 8.30am.  Please speak to the relevant School Office about breakfast provision.

What care do you offer after school?

At the end of the School day pupils can take part in a range of After School Activities and attend the After School Care sessions which run until 6.30pm (Junior Boys are transferred to the Girls School at 5.00pm). This is a flexible service that can be booked on an ad-hoc basis, although pre-booking is required. The School Office will be able to give you more advice and guidance on this service.

What after school activities are there?

The range and choice of activities is huge and changes from term to term.  A full list of activities is available here or from the School Office, there is no additional charge for most activities.  So whether it’s Textiles or Aeroplane building, being part of a Rock Choir or Sailing there is something for everyone…. including a homework/study club, always a favourite to help busy parents!

Does my child have to have school lunches every day?

Children can have School meals or bring in a packed lunch.  We offer a varied choice of meals and snacks on a two week rotating menu. A copy of our menu is available here. We operate a cashless catering system so you need not worry about lunch money.

Where do I get the School Uniform from?

Each division of Claires Court has its own uniform.  The Uniform Lists are sent out in the new pupil packs. The School’s uniform supplier is Goyals of Maidenhead and Hawkinsport for sports kit.  The PTA regularly hold Nearly New Uniform Sales.

How can I find out more about the Curriculum taught?

Each year has a Curriculum Statement, these outline what pupils are taught by subject area.

What area does the transport service cover?

We have 11 different bus routes, operating throughout South Bucks, Maidenhead, Windsor and Henley/Wargrave, for use by pupils in Year 4 and above. More details can be found on our Coach Services Page.

Do the girls and boys often get together?

Whilst girls and boys are taught separately in the classroom, they often work collaboratively, coming together for trips, topic activities, major sporting competitions and outward bound excursions.

There are joint music concerts at both Junior and Senior level as well as combined Christmas Carol Services. Our Senior Boys and Girls, along with Sixth Form take to the stage once a year for our showcase drama and music production that our school community and the general public enjoy.

The regular PTA events are attended by all sections of the School, providing further opportunities to come together as one community.

What scholarships do you offer?

The Claires Court Scholarship programme is available to current and registered pupils with outstanding talent and potential. More details can be found on our Scholarships Page.
