Meet the Head & Pupils
HEAD OF Juniors and Nursery - GIRLS and Boys
Leanne Kirby, Head of Juniors and the Nursery School, tells us what inspired her to teach and shares her vision:
"I came into teaching to make a difference, to inspire and to thought provoke. I am passionate about bringing learning to life, developing skills and fostering happiness and resilience in young people."
WHAT MAKES A GREAT EDUCATION?
An individualised approach to everything. Knowing our pupils well both academically and pastorally, means that we can nurture potential and help every individual have great achievements.
What makes Junior Girls different from other schools?
We ensure that every girl feels valued, challenged and supported. Future skills are built into our curriculum, enabling pupils to explore different ways of learning and preparing them for the unknown. The way we teach is tailored to girls, making learning exciting, stimulating and interesting.
We pride ourselves on having a warm and welcoming school, meaning that all pupils can build supportive and friendly relationships with each other and staff.
What is your approach to education?
To educate is a privilege. In teaching, one of the most important factors is putting oneself in the learner’s shoes; what do they need? What have they learned before? What are they interested in?
Having space in a curriculum to explore and make mistakes is essential; rushing through a set of objectives is not teaching. To teach is to nurture; to challenge; to provoke thought and encourage the question ‘why?’.
