As a registered charity the main purpose of the Claires Court PTA is to support the educational activities of our pupils and staff.
The Claires Court Parent Teachers Association Main Board provides for the coordination and management of the various PTA sub groups that work on different sites and stages to support the school. The President, Vice Presidents, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Trustees are elected in the Autumn Term at our Annual General Meeting, and meet at least twice a term as a main board with the Heads to review events, authorise expenditures and discuss future developments, both for the PTA and for the school more generally.
The PTA Main Board requires that the activities of the PTA include membership of the PTA UK, and through membership is provided with valuable advice, support and insurance to support their activities.
The current President and Chair of the Main Board is Mrs Phyllis Avery MBE, supported by Secretary, Rosemary Barker and Treasurer, Anne Halpin.

The Claires Court PTA also receives additional income from a variety of donors, including Goyals and Hawkinsport, and this extra revenue is accumulated into a separate Foundation Fund. Once the fund reaches its required minimum total of £50,000, it will be used for a variety of additional outreach activities to support Claires Court's educational activities. This autumn, we received a donation of £5000 value of stock at Rebellion Brewery by former parent, Keith Knowles to assist the building of the Foundation funds in memory of his wife Franca Knowles. The Knowles family have been amazing supporters of the PTAs activities over 25 years, with their children attending the School during most of that time. In 2015, the Pedersen family provided additional substantial funding to support the 1st XV Summer tour to South Africa.

She is a past Secretary and Chair of the PTA when it comprised of just one Committee and has worked in the School for just over 25 years covering a range of areas of work including marketing, trips and transport, insurance, Holiday Club and as PA to the Principals. She is now semi retired and continues with her work compiling and editing the annual Court Circular and providing some support to the Academic Principal. Rosemary has a continuing commitment to both Claires Court and the PTA.
Robert Green – Vice President and Trustee
Robert worked for 30 years in Senior Management roles in Commercial and Human Resources with Mars Confectionery. His son Christopher attended both Ridgeway and Claires Court from 1991-2004 during which time Robert served for 6 years on the PTA Committee – 2 years as Vice Chairman and 2 years as Chairman. His wife Lizbeth was Head of the College until she retired in 2011. Robert is keen to make a firm contribution to School and the PTA.
Sheila Hooker – Vice President and Trustee
Sheila joined the Claires Court family in August 1993 as School Secretary at the Senior boys site. She found this the most enjoyable and rewarding time getting to know the boys, staff and many of their parents. Since leaving the School she has kept in touch with many colleagues and rarely misses Speech Days. Sheila is now very happy to be involved with her two grandsons who went to the Nursery, Holiday Clubs and are now in Reception and Year 2 at the Junior Boys school. There are several members of staff there who were pupils at the Senior Boys School so the happy connection continues. She is delighted to be a Trustee and hopes to be of more practical use to the PTA.
Trevor Sharkey – Vice President and Trustee
Trevor taught History and English to Senior Boys from 1986 to 2007 and was the inaugural Head of Sixth Form from 1994-2007. He now works as Principal Examiner for the new A Level curriculum in History at Edexcel and is now seeking to contribute to the School in a positive way through his support of the PTA.
