Sixth Form Scholarship Awards

There are three routes to Sixth Form Scholarships

Route 1 - Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are offered based on existing outstanding performance and
scholastic record, indicating that the applicant is likely to gain eight GCSEs at grade 7 or higher. Offers will include reference to the target GCSE grades expected to be
achieved. This major scholarship award is to the value of £3780 per annum.
Awards will be based on interview performance, underpinned by an outstanding
scholastic record including predicted GCSE grades. Up to six awards in this category
may be made.

Route 2 - Supporting Scholarships

Supporting Scholarships are offered in specific skills/subject areas where the student has a known specialism.

These areas are Art, Choral, Drama, Music and Sport and awards are to the value of £1260 per annum. Supporting scholarships are additional to the academic awards gained via Route 1.

Candidates will be called to interview and are expected to speak well in the areas of excellence they have selected.

Please note that any scholarship currently held by an existing Year 11 pupil will cease at the end of Year 11.

Dates For Sixth Form Scholarship Applications For Entry In September 2019

Closing date for entries Friday 11 January 2019
Interview From 21 January 2019
Offer announcement (conditional) Friday 1 March 2019
Offer confirmation Upon publication of GCSE results

Late applications after GCSE results may be considered subject to scholarship availability.

Route 3 - Post GCSE Results Scholarship Awards

Academic Scholarships are awarded on actual academic outcomes where a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 7 has been gained. For each grade 7, £225 per annum is awarded, for each grade 8 or above, £450 per annum is awarded. No application is required.

The minimum scholarship based on five GCSEs at grade 7 would be £1125 per annum, with each additional grade 7 adding £225 per annum and each additional grade 8 or above £450 per annum. Thus a pupil achieving five grade 7 and five grade 8/9 GCSEs would be awarded £3375 per annum.

If an award has already been made based on interview and target grades in Route 1, and the amount earned is higher as a result of actual grades awarded, the higher amount will apply.
