Aim High

Sixth Form

Our Sixth Formers AIM HIGH. This is not just academically but in every aspect of Claires Court Sixth Form.

Helping you achieve your goals is our ambition too.  The work will be academically challenging so we will closely monitor progression to ensure you are focused and making the most of every opportunity.

MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE

Before you join the Sixth Form, The Head of Sixth Form, Mr Hope, will meet with you personally to make sure you are making the right course choices they will get a better understanding of your strengths and weaknesses and discuss your target grades.  If you are looking to go to a Russell Group University we will give you advice and guidance on selecting the ‘facilitating’ A Level subjects needed.

TUTORIALS

Your tutor will be the main point of contact for advice or support during your time in the Sixth Form, they are responsible for overseeing your welfare and general progress over the two years.  They play a key role in writing your reports and references.

MONITORING AND FEEDBACK

After three to four weeks of starting the Sixth Form your subject teachers will review your suitability for the course and how well you are working. Using a traffic light system you will be assessed and this information will be fed back to you and then your parents at the first Parents’ Evening of the year, which takes place just before October half term. Further Parents’ Evenings, full reports, mock exams and grade cards, make sure the monitoring and feedback process is maintained.  Any concerns are raised in the first instance with you, before being discussed with parents.  However we believe in open lines of communication, so parents are welcome to contact us if any matters arise they wish to discuss.

SIXTH FORM STAFF

Our highly experienced and professional team is led by Mr Gary Hope. Mrs Kim Hall is the Sixth Form Administrator, who is responsible for all issues regarding registration, absence and students’ independent study time.

The Sixth Form office is close to the Common Room area, so students are encouraged to pop their head around the door for a chat if needed. There is a direct phone line to the Sixth Form Office and students can contact staff by email.

"Thank you for a really productive parents evening last night.  It was really beneficial to have the evening before half-term, to hear feedback from all the tutors/teachers. Please pass on our thanks to everyone.  We are grateful that all the teachers are so enthusiastic, passionate about their jobs and supportive."
