This week our students have been supporting St Lukes Church Christmas Tree competition with five lovingly decorated Christmas trees created by each division of the school. Students created handmade decorations to be hung on their sponsored Christmas tree alongside fairy lights and of course, tinsel! Decorated trees are then entered into a competition to raise money for charity through members of the community voting for their favourite tree.
JUNIOR BOYS
The Junior Boys created sparkling snowflakes and pom pom bearded Santas from the humble lolly stick. Homemade decorations are always the ones to treasure.
JUNIOR GIRLS
The Junior Girls' beautifully decorated tree was covered with paper angels, wooden snowmen and snowflakes. The twinkling fairy lights and fluffy tinsel complemented the decorations perfectly!
SENIOR GIRLS
Not what you’d traditionally expect from a Christmas decoration but who says you have to be traditional! In Senior Girls, all the Year 7’s put ideas forward as to what theme their Christmas tree should be, and Percy Pigs were victorious! Well done to Lucia B for her winning idea. The girls are expecting their M&S collaboration any day now ;-)
SENIOR BOYS
The Senior Boys incorporated DT into the creation of their spectacular designs by cutting wood to make the ornaments before painting their designs onto them. The inspiration for their designs came from the work of 20th Century artists such as Picasso, Van Gogh, Kandinsky and more.
SIXTH FORM
The Sixth Form students produced heartfelt and traditional artwork including snowmen, snowy scenes, wreaths and plenty of glitter!
Vote for your favourite tree either by popping into the Church (SL6 7AX) over the weekend (3-5 December) or by voting online here. The annual event aims to raise money for selected charities which change yearly. Last year £2,100 was raised for Ivy’s Gifts, and this year the charity is Thames Hospice.
