"Following her treatments in hospital earlier this year, which sadly were not successful, Bridie passed away on the evening of Tuesday 15 July, surrounded by her loving husband, Dan, and her sisters, Kate and Ella at Thames Hospice. Mr Gravett is our Head of Music and Head of Year in the Senior Girls' school.
Bridie was not only a dedicated member of our staff, SENCo at Juniors, but also a cherished friend to many of us. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for both the children in her care and our school more generally made a significant impact on our community, and she will be deeply missed. Her funeral is taking place on Monday 11 August at 12pm at GreenAcres, Epping Park, Essex CM16 6AD.
Mr Gravett has asked the school to pass on the following message: “Bridie expressed her wishes for lots of flowers (no large bouquets) to be present so attendees are asked to bring a flower or two. As this is a natural environment, it is important that no plastic or non-biodegradable packaging is left behind”.
The school will make arrangements to hold a memorial service later in the year for our community, in which Bridie played such a vibrant part, and we will give good notice in due course, as we will to a tribute website and link for donations to Thames Hospice, who did so much to make her last weeks comfortable.
At this sad time, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Mr Gravett and Bridie’s family and friends. We are mindful that this news will be difficult for many of the children who knew and were supported by Mrs Gravett, and we will have support in place for them at the start of the new term.
We will remember Bridie for her immense contribution to our school and for the kindness she showed to all."
