Claires Court students and staff were celebrating a fantastic set of GCSE results this morning.
97% of all students achieved grades 9-4 and 64% of grades were 9-6. Standout subjects (with the highest percentage of 9 and 8 grades) this year were Biology, Chemistry, History, Maths and Spanish.
James Wilding, Academic Principal was delighted for all the candidates and said, “Returning to the examination hall after two years of interrupted studies was nerve wracking for these Year 11 boys and girls, and their excellent results evidence the huge strides in the learning they gained despite the disruption caused by the pandemic. We have such strength in depth across the subject range academically, and full credit must be given to both the students and their teachers for managing the myriad challenges so well. With 64% of all grades being 6 or above, coupled with stunning Maths and science results, most of our students can consider a whole range of arts and science options for their A-level and BTEC subject choices, important when they consider those next steps that lead to higher education and employment.”
"As Academic Principal, it’s been my privilege to ensure our students have enjoyed excellent access to their teachers and academic programmes of study. These heartwarming results confirm that Claires Court has managed the pressures brought by #lockdowns really well.
What must be emphasised though is that every student is so much more than just a set of grades, and we have worked with each individual to ensure they have the character and confidence to make the most of those next steps ahead for them.
Enabling every child’s personal development is our raison d’être, and clearly enabling their academic skills is a central core part of life at Claires Court."
