Claires Court proudly hosted its Combined Cadet Force (CCF) Biennial Inspection on Monday, July 7th, a significant event that also marked the official opening of the new Claires Court Sixth Form Pavilion.

The occasion was graced by The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, Councillor Mandy Brar, who joined parents and honoured guests to witness the cadets' impressive display of drill and discipline. Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Strickland, a former CCF cadet himself, conducted the inspection, offering commendations for the cadets' hard work and the comprehensive skills they have developed. Colonel Strickland, whose distinguished career includes commanding The London Regiment and serving in Iraq, highlighted the value of the CCF experience in preparing young people for the future.

The ceremony was officiated by commanding officer, Captain Sasha O'Clee (who was also presented with two medals during the event: the King Charles III Coronation Medal and the Cadet Forces Medal.

The CCF at Claires Court, now celebrating its fourth year, offers a detailed syllabus incorporating fieldcraft, first aid, navigation, shooting, military knowledge, community engagement, communications, adventurous training, and leadership skills. Cadets work diligently to earn their basic star, then 1*, 2*, and beyond, understanding that promotion is earned through upholding the values and standards of the British Army.

A musical interlude was provided by the DDFK Oompah Band, adding a festive backdrop to the proceedings.

The event also recognised outstanding cadet achievements. Sergeant Dodd was awarded the Heilbron Cup for Best Cadet, a testament to his natural leadership and instructional abilities, even serving as Head Boy this year. Lance Corporal Hatch received 'The Larkin Award for Personal Endeavour,' named after the contingent's dedicated School Staff Instructor, RSM Larkin, for their remarkable progress and good humour. The Walford London Scottish Trophy, honouring two Old Boys who served in WW1, was presented to Sergeants Engelbrecht and Griffiths, acknowledging their exceptional commitment, including returning to camp after their Year 13 prom.

The new Sixth Form Pavilion, officially opened during the event, provides an enhanced, modern learning environment for the school's senior students, further strengthening Claires Court's commitment to holistic education and preparing students for their next steps.

The school extends its sincere gratitude to all staff, particularly 2nd Lieutenant Austin-Smith, Lieutenant Ramsaran, Sergeant Adam Simmonds, Sergeant O’Clee, and RSM Larkin, for their tireless efforts in making the CCF a success. The day was a memorable celebration of cadet achievement, community spirit, and school development.
